Description

Please fill out the registration form by September 1.

We are currently planning on having either a hybrid meeting or completely online due to the pandemic and will also try to make short films and take photos during the retreat. So please remember to give an answer in the consent section of the registration form.

B: Synchrotron Light / Free Electron Laser

I have two suggestions, a short paper (in attachment) and a longer one (CHAPTER 1 The Physics and Status of X-ray Free-electron Lasers (RSC Publishing) DOI:10.1039/9781782624097-00001. In the latter the students might find some clarifications after the lecture, the former helps to introduce the subject.

      A: Beamlines

An Introduction to Synchrotron Radiation, Techniques and Applications, 2nd Ed., chap. 5, P. Willmott, John Wiley & Sons, 2019. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/book/10.1002/9781119970958

Gratings, Mirrors and Slits, beamline Design for Soft-X-ray Synchrotron radiation Sources, W.B. Peatman, Gordon and Breach Science Publishers, 1997.

There are many more titles, but the first is good and not too deep general introduction to the topic, and the second is pretty hands-on regarding beamline design (perhaps a bit dated, but still mostly valid).
